I have a confession to make.

I am a serial starter.

I have an incredibly bad habit of getting really excited about a project or idea, starting it, and then getting excited about something else and launching something new. As a result, I know a tiny bit about a ton of different things.

This is a habit that I am trying to break in 2018. This year, I am going to get EXCELLENT at something.

My goal for last year was to attend as many concerts as I could manage and document them all. I put photos of every set I saw last year and posted it all up to my instagram...sometime later this week, I'm going to do a roundup of that info and see what shakes out. I'll likely continue that this year too since I've already developed that habit pretty consistently (new, expanded goal: Better photos!)

One of the unexpected things that came up out of going to so many shows last year (as well as a number of other compounding life events) was a renewal of passion for live music. I've always craved interaction with the stage and with production. I stopped getting up in front of crowds musically a long time ago but the itch seems to have come back with a vengeance.

So, this year...with the help of people who know much better than I do, I'm gonna learn me a thing or two about audio. :) I'm also going to get back into music a little bit and try to be more forgiving of myself. Remember, Lindsay...music started out as something that was intensely fun and consuming to do. I'm going to try and get back to that space.

I started to get my toes wet with GarageBand and one of the most generous people I have ever known has set me up with some basic hardware. I'm trying to decide on if I should pull the trigger on a full-size recital keyboard (uggghhh, plleeaaassseee can I just have some weighted keys?!!?) or just go with a bare bones MIDI controller. I'll make that call in a day or two. If only my brain would let me learn how to walk around on a guitar...

So, here we are. I promise to show up for you daily, 2018, in whatever shape that takes.
